Camp Parsons – 2018 SCOUT SUMMER CAMP
Summer Camp is 5 weeks away.
In the Troop Meeting on the 29th (this Tuesday) we will be scheduling a parents/scouts meeting for all campers where we will discuss the camp, packing list and general Q & A. The meeting will start at about 8:00 pm. In the meantime, take a look at the attached Leaders Guide which provides important information on rank advancement, merit badge classes and packing list for all the participants. For all those under the rank of First Class you should be planning to take rank advancement skills during the mornings. The afternoons would be available for about two merit badges. If you are First Class and above, you can choose 3-5 merit badges with classes in the mornings and afternoons. If you could review the offerings in the Leader’s Guide, we could plan the program for each of the scouts at next week’s meeting.
Travel
We will be embarking on an early flight from George Bush International Airport on Sunday morning, July 1, 2018 and flying to Seattle Tacoma International Airport. From Seattle we will be travelling to Camp Parsons by bus which will take about 2 hours. We will return to Houston the following Saturday, July 7, 2018 arriving in the early evening.
Cost
We will shortly be setting up online payment where you can make payment for the camp and flights. I would ask that all camping families please make payment as soon as possible as I am a bit late on the collections. The cost would be $975 per person. This includes the cost of flights, bus, and camp fees. The only other costs would be spending money $5-10 per day for each scout plus lunch ($10) going out and coming back. One of the adults would act as a banker during the week.
Forms
Finally, we must have Part C as well as Parts A & B of the BSA Medical Form complete. Part C requires a physical examination by your family doctor. Both adults and Scouts need to have this complete. We would like to have these forms completed no later than June 15, 2018.
